A Man and His Thoughts

Disney, here we come!

Hi, my name is Jay and I am a Disneyholic. Yes, I am in my late thirties and I still love Walt Disney World as much, if not more, than the first time I went as a child. For me and my family Disney Magic truly exists and there is nothing quite like walking into one of the parks and being greeted by the all too familiar landmarks: Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, The Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom, and of course Mickey’s Wizard Hat at Hollywood Studios. The excitement is infectious as the little ones spot a beloved character and then get the opportunity to meet them face to face. The wide eyed wonder as they gaze around at the endless array of rides, shows, and characters. As an adult, however, I now have a deeper appreciation of just how much effort is made to make your entire experience as memorable as possible. The amenities provided at the resorts, the attention to detail at all attractions, the immaculate parks, etc. It is a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

We decided a long time ago that we will never stay offsite again! The Walt Disney World website is designed so that you can book your entire vacation online, including dining reservations. However, if you find that you want to speak with a representative, the customer service for Disney is unparalleled. I HIGHLY recommend staying on Disney property for a few reasons:

1. The Magical Express – Once you board your flight to Orlando you no longer have to worry about your baggage. It will be picked up, loaded onto the Magical Express bus and will magically arrive at your room. The Magical Express is also your transportation to the resort so you do not have to find a taxi             or rental car.

2.  Convenience – There are buses and the monorail that will take you back and forth between the parks and resorts throughout the day. This not only saves you the hassle of driving and the cost of parking, but at the end of a long day at the park you don’t have to walk a county mile just to get back to your car. As the designated chauffeur on our trips, this definitely appeals to me!
3. Extra Magic Hours – On designated days, guests of Disney resorts are allowed entrance to certain parks one hour early or are allowed to stay one hour past normal closing time. This allows you to enjoy favorite attractions without the extra long waits.
4. Your room key doubles as your park ticket so you don’t have to keep track of both.
5.  More convenience! – You have charge privileges at the park so you can charge things to your room and you can have purchases delivered back to your room so that you don’t have to lug them around the park all day.

Stay tuned as I will continue to post thoughts and tips about Disney and then, if time allows, I will post about our vacation that occurs in 4 days!
